Cumbia
Description

Cumbia is an Afro-Colombian folk dance dating back to the 1800s. It began as a courtship dance celebrating the union of African slaves and indigenous people.

Though not often danced around here, many people listen to cumbia music as often as they would salsa or any other Latin music, and there's plenty of modern cumbia to satisfy non-folkloric tastes. In this workshop we will explore both the traditional cumbia as well as a more modern flavour of the dance.

This workshop will teach you Cumbia steps, as well as how to differentiate Cumbia music from other Latin styles.
