Halifax Salseros Is Turning Five!
Hi all. Yup, the 2011-2012 salsa season will mark our fifth year of bringing the salsa love to our region, and to help set the tone, we have big plans running from September through to June. Some items are still in the planning stages, but here are a few things you can look forward to right away:

1. Times, They Are a-Changin'
The classes that you know and love now have new times, days, and locations that will enhance your learning experience and increase your rate of progression.

Starting with the Sep/Oct term, all classes will take place at the Bloomfield Centre, located at 2786 Agricola Street in Halifax. There are handy bus routes on Robie St. and Gottingen St. and loads of parking on-site. Due to holidays, sessions will run for seven weeks, and in addition to your one hour of class instruction, you'll be able to take advantage of an additional 30 minutes to
practice everything you're learning and working on. This added practice time should steepen your learning curve and help to solidify your skills. The Bloomfield Centre offers us two rooms to run classes in, with everyone from the day's classes congregating in the bigger room for the practice. Here's another way to look at how it will work for this term's classes:

Sundays: Intermediate/Advanced Classes
4:00-5:00: Intermediate 2 (studio1) / Advanced 3 (studio2)
5:00-5:30: Practice (studio1)
5:30-6:30: Choreography Class (studio1, and studio2 if/when needed)

Mondays: Beginner/Combos Classes
7:00-8:00: Beginner1 (studio1) + Bachata1 (studio2)
8:00-8:30: Practice (studio1)
8:30-9:30: Combos (studio1) + Beginner2 (studio2)

So those in the first hour's class can stay for the practice time and then head home feeling great and more confident than ever, while those in the second hour's class can arrive early to attend the practice and then stay for their class. Meanwhile, students get to see and dance with lots of students from other classes, thereby broadening both skill sets and social circles. For more information on classes, hit up the classes page.

2. HS Swag
You asked for more, you're getting more! Very soon, everyone will be able to strut around with loads of new gear options to choose from. Hoodies, t-shirts, tanks and more will be coming your way soon. Don't worry, it will all be available in plenty of time for Christmas shopping.

3. Your Instructors Are On The Board
...or boards, as it were. Over the summer, we've been asked to join two boards of directors, and we happily accepted the honours. Beginning in September, we will be contributing to both the Dance Nova Scotia and the Los Primos Project boards of directors. Amongst our new duties, we will
continue to further the salsa dance community in our region.

That's most of what's been cookin' these days. We're looking forward to seeing many of you in class very soon. The fall term kicks off on Sunday, September 11 and Monday, September 12. As always, if you have any questions, fire them our way. It's a busy time right now, but we'll try to get back to you ASAP.
